Flash Detection

The PointRoll Ad Delivery Platform provides the ability to detect the presence of a particular version of the Flash plugin and deliver the appropriate ad. If the proper version of the plugin is detected, then a Flash ad can be served. Otherwise, an alternate version of the ad unit can be served, whether it utilizes PointRoll technology or is a default, fallback traditional creative.

How It Works
When an ad unit that depends upon a particular verison of the Flash plug-in is being delivered, the PointRoll Ad Delivery Platform can check for the plug-in version available to that user's browser. The appropriate ad unit is then delivered. When building a PointRoll unit that depends upon the Flash plug-in, the designer has to decide what the user should be provided in those cases where the plugin is a lesser version. In many cases, additional versions of a PointRoll creative are designed for users with an older or non-existent plug-in.
