Data Collection

Gathering user supplied information such as registrations, email collections, information requests, etc. directly from a banner advertisement is a snap with PointRoll technology. Users can learn more about an offer and submit their information directly from the additional panels.

How It Works
Data collection fields are defined as standard HTML forms, so they are as easy to design as any data collection on a web site. In fact, the data collection forms can often be used in a panel exactly as they exist on the advertiser's web site. The user fills out the form elements within a panel in the PointRoll Ad and submits that information to a server-hosted submission script to process the data.

Benefits
Excellent method of instant lead generation
Enables advertisers to collect information immediately from the advertisement
Reuse existing web-based data collection processes
Provides the user with more information about the advertiser's offer, and allows a user to provide their data, without leaving their current web page
Implementation
There are several options regarding the routing of data and information from a PointRoll Ad:
1
The data can be sent directly to a submission script on the advertiser's web server, and thus collected directly into the advertiser's existing database without going through any third-party server. This is the most secure option as well as the most straight-forward since the user is also sent straight to the web site that the advertisement is for.
2 A third-party data collection facility can be used to house the data for the client. In this case, the third-party would host the submission script and database and then provide the data to the client in whatever fashion they have agreed upon. This option works best in cases where the advertiser already has a relationship with some third-party data management vendor.

3 PointRoll can collect the data from the advertisement. In this case, PointRoll is simply acting as a third-party data collection facility and the treatment of this information is covered in the PointRoll Privacy Policy. PointRoll's servers will host the submission script as well as the 'landing page', which is supplied by the advertiser. The client can then specify how the data is to be delivered. If the use of this service falls under PointRoll's standard collection process, then the service can be offered at no additional cost over the standard PointRoll fee, but if there is extra development required for custom data handling, the charge for this service is determined on a case-by-case basis.
Note that some publishers may require short privacy notifications within panels that collect personal user information.
