Browser Detection
The PointRoll Ad Delivery Platform automatically detects browsers, platforms and versions of the user's environment to deliver the appropriate ad. This is important since certain 3rd-party technologies are only functional in certain browser/platform/version combinations. For those combinations that are not supported, an alternate version of the ad unit can be served, whether it utilizes PointRoll technology or is a default, fallback traditional creative.
How It Works
At the time an ad is being served, the PointRoll Ad Delivery Platform checks general non-personal information from the browser to determine its type, its version and its platform. This information is then used to determine which creative should be delivered to that user. When building a PointRoll unit that uses functionality that is not supported in some browsers, versions or platforms, the designer has to decide what those users should be served. In many cases, additional versions of a PointRoll creative are designed for those users. If not, they will receive the default creative.
